Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 月娥（张柏芝）是宋朝年间的烈女，武功了得，行侠仗义，追求专一的爱情和婚姻。一日在演诗会上偶遇一表人才的陈季常（古天乐），二人互生情愫。碰巧皇上为二人赐婚，成全了美好姻缘。但是考验二人感情的时候才刚刚开始——月娥为管住夫君，对季常管束甚严。但适得其反，季常在风流好友苏轼（许绍雄）的带领下经常去寻花问柳。月娥万般无奈，幸好用计试探，终得知季常仍深爱自己。但是，当月娥外出归来，却发现季常旧病复发，竟搭上了郡主（范冰冰）。月娥悲愤交加，喝下了忘情水。
