Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　全盲的FBI特別搜查官皆实广见（福山雅治 饰）被称为“终结一切案件的最后王牌”。他自日本研修返美后，警视厅搜查一课的护道心太朗（大泉洋 饰）前往美国受训，两人在华盛顿与纽约继续加深“无敌搭档”的默契。半年后心太朗归国，两人再次分隔两地。　　2025年，皆实因电视节目回到日本，却遭遇电视台被全副武装的恐怖分子占领。他与主播播摩美咲（松本若菜 饰）、首相五之桥义实（吉田钢太郎 饰）等人被劫持，对方威胁若拿不出10亿美元赎金，将在东京引爆炸弹，引爆前所未有的危机。得知皆实被囚的心太朗火速赶往现场，却发现负责接待皆实的佐久良（吉田羊 饰）已隐藏在内部——一场跨国搭档再度携手的极限救援正式拉开序幕。
